Serendipity’s CEO in panel discussion about global migration, development and entrepreneurship

Saeid Esmaeilzadeh is a part of the "Global Forum on Migration and Development" seminar, taking place today at Rosenbad in Stockholm.

Discussions among participants such as Minister of Migration Tobias Billström will focus on how Sweden can work to strengthen the socio-economic development at home, as well as in the native countries of the entrepreneurs who have immigrated to Sweden. Saeid Esmaeilzadeh is one of four debaters in a panel that will cover the topics of migration, development and entrepreneurship, as well as shed light on challenges and opportunities.

- These questions are close to my heart. Migration plays a central role in global development. Migration and mobility in the world allows ideas to spread and cultures to meet, which, in turn, can result in new businesses offering innovative products and services. In Sweden, we see that people with foreign backgrounds start companies to a greater extent than others. This contributes to more job creation, more resources to the government and greater prosperity in the greater society. As an entrepreneur, it is absolutely necessary to see opportunities, which is why it feels natural for me to participate in discussions designed to promote entrepreneurship, says Saeid Esmaeilzadeh, CEO of Serendipity Innovations.

Since 1 January 2013, Sweden has acted as chairman of GFMD. This seminar is a part of a seminar series intended to create a forum for dialogue in the Swedish civil society surrounding topics related to migration among participants who have different experiences and perspectives. Sweden's 18-month-long chairmanship will conclude with a global forum in the middle of May, 2014.
